The project, born in CRF as innovation activity for FIAT Auto; saw, after its internal genesis, the contact between two big companies, FIAT and Microsoft, who, walking on separate roads arrived to a similar conclusion: the infotainment market was looking for a more open system toward the consumer electronic world; mirroring what computer did to became personal (simplified user interface with simpler and faster USB connectivity). 

The team work among FIAT/CRF and Microsoft supported by Magneti Marelli automotive hardware expertise give birth to what is today universally known as a commercial success, copied by competitors like Ford (with the Sync) and others.The best competencies from the two worlds: the consumer and PC market with the automotive one created a flexible and open device capable of a continue evolution, with the simple addiction of new software modules that, can be developed using standard and widespread as the Microsoft one.
