SACS: Air Conditioning Simulation
|
The main feature of SACS (Simulation of Air Conditioning Systems) code is that all the data required to identify the model parameters are those provided by suppliers: in particular, only the components datasheet performances are needed. No extra data (i.e. arrangement and shape of the heat exchanger fins) are required. For each component, a simple mathematical model has been developed, with a small number of parameters to be identified.
The model allows using different subcritical refrigerant (R134a, R152a, and R1234yf).
SACS advantages:
- allows a rapid and accurate comparison of different solutions;
- make system sensitivity analysis versus the component characteristics;
- is easily integrated with other models and SW platform (i.e. fuel consumption simulation, KULI, Flowmaster, CFD).
SACS is:
-
a virtual test bench and can be used to evaluate air conditioning system and components in stationary as well as dynamic operating conditions calculating the most relevant quantities (i.e. pressures, enthalpies, COP, absorbed power, cooling power, air at the evaporator outlet);
-
a complete virtual vehicle test facility allowing to predict the on board air conditioning system performance in dynamic conditions (e.g. cool down, driving test cycle). In addition to all the refrigerant loop relevant quantities, the model calculates the thermal response of the cabin (head level temperatures, outlet temperatures), the behaviour of the climate control algorithm and the on board energy system efficiency (i.e. COP, absorbed power including fan and blower electrical absorption).
