Controlled hydraulic systems
|
Electronics applied to hydraulics allow component simplification, efficiency improvement and new functionality in standard systems. Standard hydraulic circuit for mobile vehicles is a very complex system, where engine mechanical energy is converted by one or more pumps into hydraulic power. This power is delivered to the working equipment through high pressure piping and regulated with distributors. Standard hydraulic components are robust and well tested by years of use, but, in same case, they aren’t optimized for all aspects: for example from power losses point of view. Using electro-actuated devices and advanced microprocessor control it is possible to improve efficiency, simplicity and performances at same time. A communication network easily connects the elements and makes possible powerful synergy between single components Looking at the components, electronics can reduce their complexity as it allows moving the control law from hydraulics to the algorithms in ECU. Then valves become simpler, more efficient and they will be able to auto-diagnose their own faults. From system point of view new automatic functions can be conceived. Complex arm movements can be coordinated by electronics instead of operator, so the operation can be quicker and more comfortable. For example an excavator can operate as a robot to help operator in flattening the ground. |
