We spend a large part of our life inside a car, a privileged space in which we relate and interact with the outside. Interior systems (seats, facia, trim, controls) are, therefore, designed to guarantee a healthy, safe and comfortable human-engineered environment. We are also required to contribute to vehicle global energy economy with increasingly lightweight, efficient solutions and recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted. The Lightweight Breathable Seat concept integrates these requirements. Lightness is guaranteed by a hybrid structure based on light-weight, innovative materials such as aluminium alloys and thermoplastics with recovery of the energy generated by movement of the body on the seat, in order to improve comfort and the quality of life in the car. These movements, caused by irregularities in the  road, changes of speed when accelerating, braking or cornering, generate a flow of moist air from the contact surface towards the outside by means of a pumping system (integrated in the padding), thus promoting heat regulation and a reduction in contact temperature, with a consequent improvement of in-car comfort.
