Institutiones
Being the main private research centre in Italy, CRF has a key-role in promoting projects and proposals concerning the creation of technological and industrial development and supporting innovative solutions and services for mobility and transport. In this context, CRF cooperates with several Ministries (e.g. Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca, Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico, Ministero dell’Innovazione, Ministero dei Trasporti, Ministero dell’Ambiente) and also with numerous Regions. Moreover, Centro Ricerche Fiat is also involved in the Confederation of Italian Industry network and collaborates with others institutions such as Bank Foundations, Chambers of Commerce, Development Offices.
Research Centers
Working in the automotive research requires a wide range of technological fields and competences. In order to offer the high specialization and expertise needed, over the years CRF has established a wide collaborative network with research institution and centers of excellence worldwide. At the national level, CRF collaborates with Universities and other research centres (Inter-Universities Consortiums, Scientific Parks and Technological Districts, Research Consortiums) and with CNR and ENEA.

Business
Working in the automotive research also means collaborating with companies in other industrial sectors for two main reasons. Firstly, a vehicle comprises thousands of components and correspondingly a wide range of systems, sub-systems and components suppliers are involved in its development. Secondly, since the automotive sector is traditionally oriented to technological transition, innovation developed in different industrial sectors with high costs and low volumes (e.g. aero-space, military) can proceed through to the high-volume automotive sector before arriving finally in less high-tech sectors.
