The objective of this project is to extend the quality indices relating to drivability, comfort and driving pleasure (handling) of motor vehicles to light commercial vehicles. By using an approach based on the correlation of subjective assessments and objective measurements, a new target setting method on driving ease and sensation of safety when manoeuvring, already applied to the New Daily, was implemented.
This project has led to the achievement of significant results, the most important of which is the definition of an Iveco methodology for the subjective and objective evaluation of Commercial Vehicle handling quality indices. Hence the adaptation of handling quality indices, through the correlation of subjective assessments and objective tests to different vehicle configurations and weights. Lastly, the project also entailed training Iveco personnel to be able to apply all of the methods developed. The next steps will be the extension of the method to Medium-Heavy Commercial Vehicles and the use of quality indices in the target deployment of subsystems and components and virtual validation.
