Scope of the activity was to design, prototype and manage the experimental tuning of a new rear-suspension system able to increase the Handling and comfort performance (compared to a reference vehicle) lowering, at the same time, the cargo-floor level.
The project, after the target setting specifications and the concept selection phase, developed the design of a new De Dion suspension with a rear differential suspended to the chassis. The development phase has included, in order to verify the target achieving, a complete virtual analysis cycle: structural static and dynamic calculations, kinematic and compliance, full vehicle dynamic simulations. The suspensions, that was realized and installed on a demonstrator vehicle, enable more compact assembly and low-floor chassis design. The project is finalized to light commercial rear wheel drive vehicle.
