Project aims to develop manufacturing innovative solutions to increase the use of high performance polymeric composites able to combine environmental and energetic sustainability (in the factory and in product life) with technical and economical performance.
In order to analyse the impact of the composite materials on the smart factory the project is mainly based on two lines of research:
Production and use of new materials for structural and aesthetic applications. Thermoplastic and thermoset matrixes with an high technological content will be developed to realise components and structures.
Smart factory manufacturing. Different aspects will be investigated: forming, painting, assembly, process control, scraps materials optimisation and reuse, energy consumptions.. ICT methodologies will be implemented to manage the whole production cycle and the environmental issues.
